The two types of databases that you will be using in this tutorial are: library catalog and article databases.
| Library catalogs |
are used to find all of the materials a library purchases. Catalogs may include records for books, magazines, journals, newspapers, videos, sound recordings, images, etc. However, library catalogs do not include records for articles within journals, magazines, or newspapers |
| Online databases |
are used to find periodical articles on a topic. They include citations for articles and often the full-text. You can print or email the information. |

Some databases such as Wilson Omnifile include articles on general or multidisciplinary topics. |

Other databases specialize in a particular subject area, such as ProQuest Psychology database. |
