Google is an example of a search engine.
When you enter your search terms in a search engine, it searches within its own database of Web pages for the keywords you enter, wherever they appear on a Web page.
Note that Google automatically inserts AND between terms.
Use search engines:
- to find Web sites that include specific terms or phrases
- to find Web sites of well-known entities, such as IBM or government agencies
- to find news, images, travel, shopping services, newsgroups, and MORE
Take advantage of advanced search options to fine tune your search.
Your list of results is only as good as your search statement.
Other search engines include: Ask.com and Yahoo! Search.
